Mission and Jurisdiction

The Embassy of Madagascar in Washington D.C. is the official representative of the Republic of Madagascar in the United States of America. Under the provisions of Decree 2019-1911 on October 2, 2019, the Embassy’s jurisdiction extends to fourteen (14) countries in northern and southern America, including the United States of America, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Chili. Argentina, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Equator, Bolivia, Guyana and Suriname.

The Embassy’s purpose is to advance Madagascar’s national interests spanning trade, investment, tourism, education, health, conservation, youth and women empowerment, technology and science, diaspora involvements in Madagascar’s socio-economic development.

The Embassy also provides consular services and information to Malagasy citizens and others nationals.  

The Chancery

Opened in its current location in Massachusetts Avenue Historical District since 1962, the Chancery has been instrumental to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Madagascar and countries in northern and southern America.
